CHAPTER FIVE

He was kissing Bailey Davis. And it was quite possibly the hottest kiss of his life.

Bailey was a nice girl. A little buttoned up. Responsible and organized and…like Nolan. Very like Nolan.

But right now she was setting Luke on fire. Her hands were outside of his clothing, her tongue was in her mouth, and they were in the middle of a crowded bar on a Friday night. Damn. It was, without question, the most surprising thing that had ever happened to him. And considering he had been more than a little wild growing up with the rest of the Bad boys, that was saying something.

His hands bunched her skirt at her hips as he fought the urge to grab her ass and fit her firmly against his aching cock.

Then she opened her mouth under his and her tongue licked along his lower lip and every thought of not grabbing her ass went completely out the window.

His palms cupped firm flesh and he couldn’t help but squeeze a little. Yep, it fit perfectly. She moaned and he immediately started looking for something to back her up to. He needed more pressure, more leverage, more skin.

They bumped into another couple and their mouths came apart. Which seemed like a horrible tragedy for the first seconds. Then Luke realized he really had been on his way to putting her up against the wall of Trahan’s Tavern and he was grateful for the interruption. He dragged a hand through his hair. He hadn’t lost his mind over a woman like that—to the point of losing track of where he was—in…ever. He had never done that.

Bailey stood looking up at him, breathing fast, her lips wet and swollen. Then those lips smiled.

And he about went to his knees.

He lifted a hand and dragged his thumb over her bottom lip. “Damn, girl.”

She nodded. “Wow. Right. That was…”

“Unexpected.”

“Definitely that,” she agreed. “And—”

“Hotter than hell,” he supplied.

She seemed relieved that he’d been the one to say it. “Yeah,” she said softly. “Definitely that too.”

So now what? He really wanted to drag her out of there and keep going. But this was Bailey. It wasn’t like she was some girl he’d just picked up in the bar tonight. Or someone he was dating. Or had ever dated.

Her tongue came out to wet the lips he’d just spent far too short a time against, and he wanted it all again. And more.

“So—”

“I’m starving,” she announced.

“Oh.” Okay, that he could deal with. “Sorry. I didn’t know you hadn’t eaten.”

“I thought I was going to a fancy rehearsal dinner so I didn’t eat much today,” she said.

He grabbed her hand and started for the bar. Trahan’s served classic Cajun food and New Orleans classics, along with the usual bar food like burgers and sandwiches. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

She didn’t answer and when he’d found a space to wedge into at the bar, he turned to her.

“I was distracted,” she admitted.

“Distracted?”

Her gaze dropped to his mouth and Luke felt electricity shoot through him.
